Pain in my joints pain in my head! Aftermath of Saturday’s gig? Whatever, this happens during long periods of inertia, or after stretching and short walks? Fucked either way, man up its all in your head! Fuck off, nobody knows for sure what another feels unless maybe sharing a similar experience.
M.E or Fibromyalgia it sucks big time, for me it feels like gravity has a stronger pull on me than on others, like walking neck deep in water or honey! My mind is foggy and I need to lie down, now mix that with bipolar disorder and the fun really begins, manic depression which I personally think is a better name for my condition but it’s six and half a dozen really racing thoughts and impulsiveness even if I’m floored with Fibromyalgia or deep depression with thoughts of self harm.
Thankfully I live in the U.K where healthcare is free, for now anyway as the government tries to privatise the N.H.S. I get good health care Doctors Psychiatrists and Occupational Therapists and access to the correct medicine for my treatment and feel more even than I used to, don’t get me wrong I miss the periods of hyperactivity but for now I’ll settle for being on an even keel.
I’m in the black bull pub before #TheExploited gig, the talk in the busy bar mainly concerns how the gig will go and how the singer Wattie will perform after his heart attack and from what I’ve heard the triple bypass operation that followed.
The support groups “critikill” and “Certain Death” were really good in fact certain death have gained a new fan and I look forward to seeing them again soon!
Anyway time for the main event and Wullie Buchan, Matt justice, Irish Rob and Wattie hit the stage, Wattie looks really happy to be back on stage on his home turf Edinburgh and the crowd show their appreciation with the “exploited barmy army” chant.
The band tears into their set and sound amazing, the set covers over three decades and is a good mix off early tracks like army life, punks not dead, alternative, dead cities, and songs from all the later material, the massacre, beat the bastards Fuck the system, Maggie still gets the crowd singing along, the hatred towards the late Iron Lady still rightfully evident, Fuck the USA dedicated to Watties son! Then a surprise Father and son duet as Wattie’s son Jamie sings “Sex & Violence” any doubts about Wattie’s ability to perform after his illness were soon forgotten as the band killed it and the crowd slamming, singing along and a few stage divers helped make this an amazing night, having seen the Exploited half a dozen times in the past I have to say this was the best performance I’ve seen, the band were tight as fuck and the sound in the venue was decent. #Studio24 is a great music venue and the staff were excellent, there was no trouble that I was aware of and the bouncers seemed cool. If someone fell in the pit they were picked up and I’m sure I’m not the only one with sore ribs even though I stayed up front against the barrier for most off the set.
Well I’ll have to wait till April 2015 to see them again at the 02abc in Glasgow with G.B.H. Angelic Upstarts U.K SUBS and a few more , if anyone reads this and likes it I might do one for Glasgow or anything in between, Cheers!
